Dean trip continued

I wanted to find the place where the original Dean house has stood. On the Internet, I had read this description: “For many years a depression in the ground between the Gammel barns and the end of the School House Road marked the location of the John Dean’s house.”  We found the School House Road. The Gammels still live there and their barns, although run down, still exist. If this description is true, then we saw the approximate place where the Dean house stood.

Dean, according to the tourist brochure, is a place that loves to celebrate food. They have a maple syrup festival in April, a corn beef and cabbage supper in September and two community turkey dinners in November and December. It sounds like my kind of place and I wish I could go back and meet any distant cousins still living there.
