The New Tangible Book Form of The Gardener’s Wife At Last

The Gardener's Wife paperback

Here’s a photo of the cover of Book 2 of The Compleat Gardener series, recently printed. I will be launching this book on Wednesday, June 20th at Musquodoboit Harbour Public Library, about 30 miles from Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Everyone is welcome!

The cover shows the ruins of Ellon Castle, near Aberdeen, Scotland, where The Gardener’s Wife takes place in the 1780s. I took the photo in 2000 when I was doing research for the book. That’s when I learned that, at the time John Dean was the gardener, the castle was owned by the Third Earl of Aberdeen (“the wicked earl”) and occupied by his mistress Penelope Dering and her two children. Grist for the story-mill.

If you’d like a hard copy of this book and can’t come to the book launch, please let me know in the comments and I’ll try to get one to you. It is still available as an ebook through Barnes and Noble, Kobo, etc.

  1. Hi there
I met you at the book sale you had in Middle Musquodoboit last year. I would like to get one of the new books. I had planned to go Musquodoboit Harbour, but I thought it was this Sunday. I had to work on Wednesday and would not have made it anyway. Actually I would like 2 of the new books. Let me know how to pay you and when I can get one. Excited to see the new one.

    • Hi Rebekah,

I’m staying at the Ramada Inn in Dartmouth (on Brownlow Road) until Sunday morning. if you want to drop by and pick them up. Just call before you come to make sure we’re here. We’re usually here in the evening.

I’ll put aside some books for you. Did you want two of each book or two books?

  2. Fascinating place Nova Scotia. Would definitely like to read about Scotland. Would also like to know about your biography what would be the best place to look.
