Book Review of Maid of Gold

Maid of Gold is a story of courage and adventure. We are invited to experience nineteenth century life through the eyes of the author’s great-great grandmother Jane Inglis.

Jane is determined to make a better life for herself in Australia, at a time when being a single woman without the protection of a male figure was almost unheard of.

I enjoyed following the trials, triumphs and adventures of Jane and was left with a deep appreciation for the challenges many of our ancestors had to face. I not only appreciated this book for its captivating story telling, but also for the historical and inspirational aspects it offered.  Our ancestors were true pioneers, who shaped the lives we are living now.

The author’s ability to take us back in time and make the life of her ancestors real and memorable to us, has made the Maid of Gold a true pleasure to read.
